Hong Kong Model United Nations Club (HKMUNC)
Hong Kong Model United Nations Club (HKMUNC) is a student body of HKYTSA offering various training sessions to enhance students' organization, communication and presentation skills to participate in the Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences in Beijing and Xi!|an in fall 2005 and National Model The origin of Model United Nations (MUN) dates back to the 20s with the establishment of the League of Nations, followed by its transformation to United Nations in 1945. MUN has been a student-oriented activity which simulates the UN General Assembly. About 400 MUN conferences are held worldwide every year, in which 200,000 high school and college students have taken part in. The sizes of the conferences vary, as they can be held locally, at classrooms or internationally, at the UN Headquarter. Teams of participants will become country members of the UN. Each MUN delegate acts as the country!|s ambassador to the UN, and discusses world issues like human rights, terrorism and sustainable development. Students will learn to be leaders in MUN, which has been a training ground for leaders of different fields. Two examples are the former World Court Justice Samuel L. Jackson and the States Chief Court Justice Stephen Breyer. MUN is also a valuable occasion to meet friends all over the world.

Who are we looking for?
Hong Kong university students
Excellent command of English, both spoken and written (Mandarin is also an advantage)
Have strong interests in/ knowledge of international affairs
Good Interpersonal and communication skills
Leadership potential
Persistence, energy and drive
Activities
Members will not only have the opportunity to join the conference, but are also privileged to participate in a series of training that the HKMUNC offers. Activities for members include:
• Training workshops conducted by university professors, academics and professionals on topics like international politics
• Drafting position papers
• Debates
• Visits to consulates, legislative council and related establishments
• Overseas conferences
Awards
Activities will be organized on a year basis. Members with satisfactory attendance and performance will be presented with certificates at the closing ceremony next year.
Membership fee
HK$250 per person for a year
Payment methods
You can choose one of the ways to hand in the fee:
• by cheque to the Hong Kong Youth and Tertiary Students Association
• In person during office hours (Office address: Room 1002, Kwangtung Provincial Bank Building , 589 Nathan Road , Mongkok)
• Deposit the fee to our account at the Bank of China. Account number is 064-787-0003-2221. Please write down your name and contact number on the back of the receipt and mail or fax to us (Fax no.: 27717691).
